Let’s Start Talking (LST) has been recruiting, training, and sending workers around the world for over 35 years. This year, I am a member of an LST mission team along with 3 of my friends from the Manhattan Church of Christ.

During the Summer of 2020, we will be teaching English at The Ramkhamhaeng Christian Center in Bangkok, Thailand. Right now, this Christian center is advertising "English lessons by native English speakers." People desiring to learn English will sign up for the program which will take place during the 6 weeks my team will be there. Once my team arrives, we will be paired one-on-one with the people that have signed up.

LST encourages us to adopt their terminology of “reader and worker” rather than teacher and student. This creates the opportunity for the worker (me or one of my teammates) and the reader (anyone in the program learning English) to have a closer relationship. The reason we use the term reader rather than student is that the material used to teach English for this program is a simplified version of the book of Luke. Through providing the service to my readers of English lessons from the book of Luke the opportunity is ever-present to talk about the Gospel message. This is the ultimate goal of LST. To fulfill the need of English lessons and to create the need and desire for Jesus.

For 40 years Let's Start Talking has been equipping Christians to create life-changing conversations across the street and around the world.
