Hello my dear friends!
I am updating my page to let you know about the exciting changes to my upcoming Let's Start Talking project. You might remember that I had planned to go to Croatia for a three week project in September. We have changed our destination to Pabianice, Poland. This will be the same time and the same work, just in a different location. Well, and a different language! I've been trying to learn a few words and phrases so I can communicate a little when we we are out and about. Polish is in the top five most difficult languages for English speaking people to learn. So many consonants! It's a good thing that my job will be to help them to become conversational in English.
After going to Ecuador last month on a short mission with a team from my home congregation, I am even more excited to go on this longer LST project. I have seen how eager people are to learn English. Wonderful conversations come from the stories about Jesus as we read together from the book of Luke. I have been happy to witness how the local Christians have the opportunity to develop relationships with our readers that will continue after we are gone. I am looking forward to meeting, working with, and loving the people of Poland.
As of this writing, I am 75% of the way to reaching my goal for the funds for this mission. This will cover my flight, room and board, and LST materials we will be using. I will take care of any personal expenses as I see and learn about this culture and beautiful country. I would greatly appreciate your consideration in helping me get me to the finish line on this. I assure you this is a worthy mission. I know from my other projects that I will be working very hard on this three week project.
Thank you so much to those of you who have already partnered with me on this. I ask for your prayers for both me and my teammate, Brigette. This is still a big leap of faith for me to do international travel. My other trips have prepared and trained me for this next step. God has provided me with an experienced fellow LST worker who is well acquainted with the European culture. Our Father is good at that! He has granted me this time to serve Him on my own, but never alone. I am humbled and thankful.
Many blessings to each of you on your journey in the Kingdom,
Beth
Let's Start Talking equips Christians to create life-changing conversations across the street and around the world. Taking advantage of the global desire for English as well as the innate desire we all share for connection and community, LST Workers offer English-conversation practice in a comfortable, non-confrontational setting. Scripture forms the basis of each conversation, and friendships surface naturally.
To participate in a mission project this year I have committed to raise funds for LST. This money is used to fund the recruiting, development, and support of all LST team members, as well as travel and project costs. Please give generously today and be a part of my team! And please pray for me and for my teammates that everything we do will bring glory to God.
